It is easy to get caught up… Emotions are high. The need is great. Our desire to be recognized is deep.  Our racing impulse to believe is as dangerous as it is exciting. In these moments, it is near impossible to separate fact from hype. There is some truth in enthusiastic testimonies from the podium, thus it is easy to blur the lines, and jump all in - 100%  If it soothes our insecurities, sparks our ego, masks our loneliness, fills up empty places, promises popularity and when financial investment feels like real effort & success… we buy in. Literally and figuratively! We do not think it through; Consider the cost; Weigh our options, nor imagine the genuine commitment and dedication this may require. We simply tell ourselves: I'm going all the way to the top! We want to be near the inner circle. We justify our extravagant actions, fixed upon the ideas of a mind-blowing paycheck and the roar of applause, once we achieve a title. We get blinded by our mis-guided attempt to be rich & famous - we forget ourselves. We say our WHY is family, giving back, making a difference etc, and that is where it all began, however, we lose sight … Desperation kicks in. A competitive spirit creeps in. We fall in; And, we bring a few others along for the ride. Suddenly, we are manically pushing our newfound passion for skyrocketing success, by way of large product purchases, with the promise of selling, sponsoring & promoting at breakneck speed, as a result. The numbers make sense when you are in the thick of it, shielded from any sensible idea or thought. It seems as if it will all be worth it when you are earning your six-figure life-changing income. Right?

Wrong. And, I know that of which I speak. Trust me. I will say, for most, there is no intent to cause harm. Most are caught up, too! The truth is simple. Large product investments, usually made one time, by a few people, will never create a sustainable business. I know it seems like such a good deal….however...We are not in this for great discounts, we are here to earn a paycheck, and reach a bonus level that we are able to maintain, and grow, month after month. Lasting success means having a REAL customer base. A bunch of loyal clients will insure your immediate and future paycheck; And, from big customer love, your team of consultants will organically appear. Lay a solid foundation, work hard, put your time in, in the trenches. It WILL be worth it! 

Besides the ridiculous idea that spending a ton of money will automatically generate a paycheck, rather than just pay you back, when self-interest gets in the way of doing the right thing for the most people, you get in trouble. Other people's needs and desires are more important than your own goals. The customer simply wants to purchase great products -- no guilt, no strings, no coercion - what's best for her? Find  out and watch your business take off. 

There is not anyONE or anyTHING, actually standing in my way, or keeping me from my best life...except ME. I can choose, everyday, to overcome the real obstacles in my life, and I can absolutely choose to move past the stories in my own head, stalling me out. It always begins with one step forward, and then another, and the next one, and so on... It is worth the struggle, to break free and claim the blessings & reward, waiting for us on the other side of moving through our pain and fear.

As 2012 winds down, I am being extra thoughtful about what success habits I hope to reform, to create extraordinary living in 2013! I am going to begin RIGHT NOW!!

I need to remember: Have fun! Count your blessings! 
Best to stay in the moment and focus on the next right thing. It helps to take action to improve my overall perspective, whether I feel like it or not, because I can get stuck in a rut.

When I acknowledge the truth: my crazy life is amazing and wonderful, I am good. Time to crank up the music and sing out loud, laugh with a friend, take my puppy for a walk, flip through recipes & cook for my family, connect with someone new…anything to take the focus off ME and get in the mix!

I am reminded today: KEEP MOVING! Do not allow your heart to grow complacent or let the dream go stagnant. 
                     
We long for purpose and life-changing revelation...and then...we just stand still, waiting. Well, greatness only happens when we engage, and get in the mix. 

Today, I am reminded: It is impossible to blame and BUILD a prosperous business at the same time. So, you have to choose...let go of past bitterness, old excuses and live in the moment - create your best future, beginning right now!
